Can karate help going up on pointe?

-I did karate for 1 year and it reminded me of when I was younger, doing ballet. My goal is to end up on pointe with a year or two, maybe three. But the question is, is before doing karate I was in a summer intensive program and I went up on pointe, just out of the fun of the class. I then quit and I went to karate and it help with core muscles, ankle, calf, and thigh strengthening, and what seemed similar to me was sitting in a stance that felt similar to a plie. I was just wondering if a yer of karate could have built up my strength to do pointe, after a year or two? I know its kind of annoying becasue a qualified teacher can answer this only, but advice, possibilities are much appreciated:)

Alannahhm... it might, it might.

of course youll still need to take at least 2 (or 3) hours of ballet MINIMUM per week, its not all about stregnth- you need good technique too!!

each week i dance 3-4hrs ballet, 2hrs lyrical, 2hrs jazz, 1hr tap, and 4hrs baton twirling at the stuido alone. plus i practice alot at home. and we do gymnastics for 3hrs a week at school. AND im a cheerleader, and we practice ALOT! (basically i have no life outsied f dance....)

but i think a good dance schedual for you would be something like 2hrs ballet, and 1hr of jazz or lyrical/contempary/tap (whatever one you want, its always good to have another style than classical around) and then as much karate as you feel fit.

aside from karate, another way to get you feet and ankles prepped in to do releves :)

if you do that, you should be up en pointe in about 2-3 years :)

hope this helped
