Could I become a professional dancer?

-I am pretty flexible, of course i take dance: modern, and jazz/lyrical. im pretty good at it, i choreographed a 2:07 dance, and its the one thing I look forward to. I absorb what my teachers say, but im not sure if I would make it.Unfortunately, pumpkin is wrong and ballet is not as idealistic as her answer suggests. You didn't really give enough information for us to give you a better idea of your chances; How old are you? height, weight, description of your physical facility? However I'll try to answer as thoroughly as possible

To become a professional dancer requires years of training, a proper aesthetic and facility, as well as determination and strength. You must begin your training around 5-6, with more intense training and a stronger ballet focus beginning around age 9. You did not mention ballet in your question, but most companies require ballet training. By 16-17, you should be a finished product, and be preparing to audition for professional companies. Companies only take the very best, and you must have very strong technique, as well as stamina and physical strength to dance the demanding performances that companies do. There are thousands of hopefuls, but only those with the best technical foundation and well developed artistry are chosen. You must stand out from every other girl in the room.

Companies also look for the correct body, and while modern compaines are more lax about this, you should still be lean and extremely fit. In ballet you must have 180 degree turnout from the hips, long hyper-extended legs, a long neck, a small round head, and good feet, as well as a stretchy achilles. Knowing nothing about your body, it's difficult to say if you have any of the determining factors.

However, if you fit these prerequisites and have the grit to push through it, you could in fact make it. Doing so requires working harder and pushing your body more every single day, and a lot of sacrifice. if you have what it takes, go for it.
The answer is yes, you could for sure be a pro dancer. Anyone could be, with the right training and mindset. So all you need is determination and confidence and you'll probably make it. But you have to want it more than anything. Put yourself out there, take lots of classes, be really involved. You can do it:)

**** I'm editing this because of ballerina girl. Now when i answered this question I didnt think she meant a professional ballet dancer because she didnt mention taking any ballet classes or having any interest. So I took it that she meant a professional jazz dancer or something. You can be a pro without being a ballerina haha. And I am completely aware that becoming a BALLERINA is not as idealistic as i mentioned. k bye
