another thing you can do is just stand on whatever your trying to balance on, go next to a chair and just practice
(the pilates are better)

~Lindsey~Pilates is great for balance. It strengthens your core. If you can't afford a dvd or game, there are probably some tutorial videos on youtube.
I'd suggest taking a pilates class to strengthen you core and a ballet class for balance
Practice dancing in the heels. Repetition breeds perfection.
