-I'm gonna enter college soon and the course I've chosen is Dance but I can't seem to convince my parents to let me take this course. Please help!Well, it's kind of smart of them to worry about you majoring in dance- that is a TOUGH business to succeed in. So, I would suggest reaching a compromise- double major or at least minor in something more practical that appeals to both you and your parents. If they see that you are willing to give a little, they will be more likely to treat you like the adult you are becoming. The truth is, even if you DO become a dancer, you can't dance professionally all your life- or if you do you'll be quite rare, like a Nigel Lithgow sort of person ! I love dance and dancing runs in my family, so I do encourage you to pursue your dream, but to also be realistic about your expectations and not gamble on success in such a cutthroat career. You need something to fall back on, especially with the state of the economy today !
Good luck, and good for you for not backing down but also seeking help to remedy the situation ! It's hard for parents to recognize that their children will eventually make their own decisions, and while we may welcome their advice, it is ultimately our life to lead and not theirs.Be more specific? Tell them what kind of dance you want to participate in... Tell them that you really want to be a dancer. Maybe pay for some lessons to show how committed you are? If that doesn't work you can always say you aren't going to eat until they get you lessons. Hope this helped!
Don't call it "dancer" because that makes you sound like a stripper.
Tell them what kind of dance, and tell them how it pays.
