I'm 15. Is it too late to start ballet?

-I"ve been taking a jazz class and a leaps/turns class for about 9 months now and I've been also been taking my schools dance class as an elective credit, and I really love dancing! My problem is, they're all pretty low level classes. I want to excell at dance and become pretty good, maybe even compete some. I'm tall, thin, fairly strong, and people have told me my whole life I look like a dancer. I really want to go en pointe. I don't take any ballet classes currently. I guess I'm wondering-- Am I too old to try and get into a ballet class that would eventually go en pointe? Also, am I too old to get into a more advanced class or probably not?No you aren't to old to start ballet, if you looking to go up on pointe soon its actually better because then you don't have to wait seven years when you start at 4 years old and end up on ponite at 11 years old. Far distance, ballet is a great exercise for dancer, and it teaches poise, strength beauty etc. and hopefully you'll choose ballet:)

hop I helped:)
There is no such thing as too old especially at 15. I started horseback riding at age 50 and have had a great time doing it. Give the ballet a try, if it doesn't work out as well as you would have wished, you will know that you tried your best. and who knows we might see you dancing with a ballet company in New York
15 is not too old! With hard work you can become an advanced dancer at any age, especially as a teenager. Sabra Johnson did not start dancing until she was 16, and she won so you think you can dance! It sounds like you were born to dance...so go for it!
You can start ballet anytime. I think a lot of people think of ballerina as little girls and not women. Even thought most pros still do ballet into their 30's and in the case some into their 50's.
It is never to late to do Ballet! Since your doing jazz it should be not so hard! My mom started ballet when she was about 40 and so far she is getting better. You should listen to your teacher always and also practice!
No way! If you are already taking jazz classes then I would advise you to take ballet. Ballet is the core of all dance styles and is essential to them. Ballet gives you grace, poise, and technique. Jazz will start to come easier to you after learning the basics of ballet.

You have to look at it this way: you're only going to get older and it's hard to find the time to do something that's going to change everything. Don't be discouraged if you start taking it and don't like it. I'll be the first to admit that ballet is not my favorite but once you get on pointe it will be all worthwhile. Pointe is my favorite style of dance and I have had years of experience in jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, modern, hip hop, lyrical, and have even tried clogging. Needless to say, clogging wasn't my style.

So to conclude this extra long story, I say go for it! It's not like you have to take it for the rest of your life. If you only go to a few classes and decide it's not for you then there is absolutely no problem with that!

Best of luck and wishes! :)
